the modern family dynamic
The design strategy for “BYFTWD” centered on a cohesive, flexible, and inclusive visual experience. By unifying the theme, aligning with HubSpot’s brand, and ensuring scalability across platforms, the designs celebrate family diversity and foster a welcoming environment. This approach upholds HubSpot’s values, providing adaptable, multi-use assets for any platform.

Cohesion of assets
For this project, one of my goals was cohesion across all assets, creating a festival-like appeal. I used bright, punchy colors to represent different family dynamics and members, ensuring the visuals felt vibrant yet easy on the eyes. My aim was for the assets to look and feel great, seamlessly blending into the event so naturally that viewers might not think about the design process behind them.

04. Reflection
What I learnt and what I would do differently
How can I improve this service?
What I learn't...
Working on BYFTWD for HubSpot was an invaluable learning experience. Designing for a global company with over 13,000 employees, plus their families, required balancing creativity with universal appeal. This project reinforced the importance of cohesive design, versatility, and brand alignment.
Scalability and adaptability were key; each asset had to work across various cultures, ages, and platforms. Building the designs on Canva also ensured HubSpot’s teams could easily customise elements as needed.
This project emphasised clear communication and careful attention to feedback. Designing for such a large audience reminded me that impactful visuals connect people, celebrate community, and bring everyone together.
Next time...
For future projects, I’d focus on developing a more structured approach to understanding the client’s visual preferences early on, perhaps through a more detailed visual questionnaire or mood boards. This would help align our vision from the start and ensure I’m capturing exactly what they want the event to feel like.
That said, working with such an incredible collaborator made the process genuinely enjoyable. Their clear communication and openness to ideas made the project flow smoothly, and I’d absolutely carry that collaborative spirit into future projects.
